Stuck in Grants Pass - Leonard Nimoy Tribute
Ah, the life of a photojournalist on assignment. I am stuck in the Best Western in Grants Pass - weather has closed the highway for the evening. This photograph from my hotel room is especially meaningful to this southwesterly part of Oregon.
From Startrek.com:
“Finally came his big break in 1966 when he began his role as the Vulcan officer Spock on Star Trek. His first promotional trip for that show was when he was Grand Marshall of Medford, Oregon’s annual Pear Blossom Festival. It was the first sign that he’d finally made it. This idea was confirmed after the Pear Blossom Parade when Nimoy signed autographs for a crowd of fans so large officials had to “rescue” him from the well-meaning autograph seekers.”

That’s what my wife says whenever I am away. It must be a well-known refrain in photojournalism circles: at least for the owners of dogs.

I hope you enjoyed your short stay in our town. Snow is usually not a problem on this section of I-5, but the last two Winters have been unsually snowy here, although personally I think it makes Grants Pass beautiful when blanketed in white.
