two worlds

In the span of under 36 hours I made pictures of two situations.

The first was a close friend of ours reading “Goodnight Moon” to her child. The house was warm, the lights dimmed - a holiday gathering of sorts. It was touching and a reminder of my own childhood.

The second was essentially of strangers. They were living in a tent, keeping dry from Oregon’s rain and making hot coffee to warm themselves up.

The world is complicated. I am not trying to rank them - or quantify a parent’s love for a child. Or am I making distinction between what is good and bad or right and wrong. But, I am mindful of our starting lines - where they exist and my own privilege.

  1. What a world of difference! I keep scolling back and forth from the warm, cozy photo to the people trying to get warm in a tent. I keep thinking about what a contrast - thanks for making me think about these differences.
